For Janice Vidal's highly anticipated 2022 Hong Kong Concert, the goal was to craft an intimate yet visually spectacular environment that resonated with her powerful vocals and diverse setlist. Our lighting design strategically deployed numerous Dynamic Tubes, transforming the stage into a fluid and responsive visual landscape. Facing intense competition in the global live events market, FENG YI initiated the "Aurora Stage" lighting project for a major European music festival. The goal was to deploy cutting-edge, high-output LED fixtures to create a dynamic, highly synchronized visual experience across four massive stages. This project aimed to showcase Feng Yi’s capacity for large-scale, sustainable entertainment lighting solutions, meeting the industry demand for high visual immersion.

The primary technical challenge was achieving seamless synchronization of 600+ moving head fixtures across vast distances using DMX control, complicated by significant ambient electromagnetic interference. Furthermore, the fixtures required robust IP66 weather protection to ensure 100% operational reliability under unpredictable European festival weather, demanding specialized cabling and power management systems.

Installation time was severely limited—only 240 hours were allocated for rigging heavy lighting trusses, addressing every fixture, and finalizing complex programming. This required strict coordination of fifty technicians working simultaneously. Managing the delivery and deployment of custom-fabricated equipment within a rapid logistics framework placed enormous pressure on inventory and scheduling resources.

Coordinating the artistic requirements of the international lighting designer with the technical limitations of the local rigging crew presented communication hurdles. Technical specifications had to be consistently translated and verified across three languages, demanding a specialized liaison team. Ensuring safety compliance while maintaining artistic flexibility required constant negotiation and detailed, transparent planning sessions.

Technical Solution
FENG YI deployed the new FY-L series LED wash lights, known for superior thermal management and color calibration, connected via a redundant fiber-optic DMX backbone. We utilized advanced WYSIWYG software for virtual programming and fixture mapping before setup. This allowed for immediate system validation upon power-up, significantly reducing onsite debugging time and increasing efficiency.
Project Flow Design
The workflow began with a detailed site survey and 3D modeling to simulate every beam angle. The execution involved four critical stages: foundation rigging, system installation, integrated power-on testing, and a final 24-hour continuous operational test. This structured, staged approach ensured that complex dependencies were met sequentially before moving to the next phase.

A key innovation was the deployment of an smart-driven monitoring system integrated into the control console, capable of real-time voltage and temperature diagnostics. This system proactively identified potential fixture failures before they occurred, minimizing downtime. Furthermore, custom-designed narrow-angle optics maximized the visual punch and throw distance of our beam lights.

We implemented large-scale 3D projection mapping technology in a Hong Kong performance for the first time. Through precise calculations of the venue's structure, projections were perfectly integrated with physical lighting, creating an immersive visual experience on the Coliseum's circular dome.
Notably, the "Victoria Harbour Nightscape" segment recreated the glittering harbour view indoors through the synergy of projection and lighting.
Upgraded Intelligent Follow-Spot System
Developed an smart image recognition-based intelligent follow-spot system capable of automatically tracking performers' positions and adjusting focus and intensity in real-time.
Trained on hundreds of hours of performance footage, the system could predict performer trajectories for more natural and fluid lighting tracking.
Multi-Platform Color Management System
Developed an intelligent color management system tailored to the characteristics of different distribution platforms.
The system automatically optimized color parameters based on the output platform, ensuring the best visual experience whether viewed live, on TV, or on mobile devices.
