Realm of Light Wings:Fengyi Light Installations Interpret "Programmable Life Narratives" at Shanghai Light Art Festival
On a midsummer night in 2026, the main venue of the Shanghai Light Art Festival beside the Huangpu River turned into a dreamy realm of light and color.
At this grand gathering of world-class light artworks, Guangzhou Fengyi Stage Lighting Equipment Co., Ltd. made a stunning appearance with three core products:
Lifting Milky Spheres, Lifting LED Tube Lights, and Mechanical Wings.
Through a highly programmable dynamic light system, Fengyi presented a vivid visual narrative of light and life.
From the moon-like gentle glow of the milky spheres, to linear beams shaping the skeleton of space, to mechanical wings ready to take flight,
the three devices, under precise central control, together built a breathing, rhythmic, and narrative immersive light theater.
I. Design Concept: Writing Life Narratives with Light as a Brush
Themed Light · Encounter, the Shanghai Light Art Festival explores the profound connection between light, life, nature, and technology.
Fengyi’s design philosophy defines the three products as living beings of light:
- Lifting Milky Spheres as seeds of light in their infancy
- Lifting Tube Lights as growing veins of light
- Mechanical Wings as spirits of light ready to soar
Soft and rigid, point and line, dynamic and static — they choreograph together in 3D space,
turning abstract imagery of life into perceptible visual language.
Lifting Milky Spheres
Made of high-transmittance frosted material with built-in RGBW LEDs, emitting a soft, jade‑like halo via uniform diffusion.
Driven by micro servo motors, lifting speed curves support linear, exponential, and S‑shaped modes,
simulating natural movements from dewdrop formation to petal unfolding.
Positioning accuracy reaches ±1 mm.
Lifting LED Tube Lights
Equipped with 360° luminous LED strips to outline spatial structures and dynamic paths.
Programmable lifting creates effects including waterfalls of light and time tunnels.
Mechanical Wings
Designed with multi‑DOF joints, capable of spreading, folding, and flapping like real birds.
Wingspan reaches up to 3 meters, with full‑color LEDs that shift colors synchronously during motion.
II. Technical Core: Pixel‑Precise "Programmable Life Engine"
The professional soul of the dynamic matrix lies in its highly integrated control system and pixel‑level programmability.
All devices feature high‑precision servo motors and closed‑loop encoders, with ±1 mm positioning accuracy and stepless speed control.
Based on the grandMA3 platform and Art‑Net protocol, unified control ensures end‑to‑end latency within 8 ms.
Fengyi’s self‑developed Spatial Life Engine abstracts complex group movements into parameterized visual grammar.
By adjusting amplitude, frequency, phase, random seed, and other parameters,
it generates real‑time dynamic effects from waves and spirals to complex geometric patterns.
For safety, all units are equipped with a vertical stabilization system and Eagle Eye anti‑fall detection,
providing dual protection for completely secure operation.
III. Scene Performance: Three Custom Programs Illuminate "Light of Life"
During the festival, the three devices delivered precise visual expressions for different themes:
Awakening of Dreams
Lifting Milky Spheres rise slowly from the ground like forming morning dew, with soft gradients between warm white and light purple.
Tube Lights trace winding light paths; Mechanical Wings tremble gently, as if a new life is about to break free from its cocoon.
This program interprets the tranquility and hope of life’s beginning with extreme calmness and restraint.
Dance of Light Wings
As music rises, Mechanical Wings spread and flap in precise sync with drumbeats.
Milky Spheres rise and fall with the melody, shifting colors from warm white to icy blue and gold.
Tube Lights weave flowing trajectories, engaging in a spatial dialogue with the wings.
All changes are locked to audio timecode at millisecond precision, fully expressing the bloom of vitality.
Eternal Shining Galaxy
In the climax, all devices execute the ultimate macro command.
Mechanical Wings fully extend with brilliant radiance;
Milky Spheres surge upward explosively at 1 m/s, forming a floating galaxy of light;
Tube Lights radiate outward in radial patterns.
Colors spread evenly from warm gold at the center to icy blue at the edges,
as if the entire universe converges, elevating the glory of life to eternity.
IV. Cross‑Domain Value: From Art Festival to Global Stages
The value of the three products extends far beyond a single light art festival.
With strong programmability and agile motion, they form a universal visual language tool with unlimited narrative potential:
- High-End Hotel Lobby: Milky Spheres drift gently in warm white and gold; Tube Lights define space; Mechanical Wings serve as artistic installations.
- Large Conference Center: Tube Lights outline the stage; Milky Spheres form a solemn halo; Mechanical Wings spread at the opening for enhanced ritual.
- Stadium Concert: Wings fold and unfold with choruses; Milky Spheres form a star matrix, synced to music for explosive atmosphere.
- High-End Bar & Nightclub: Spheres move with BPM; Tube Lights create flowing tracks; Wings act as visual focal points.
- Theater & Immersive Drama: All devices become “props of light,” custom programmed for flashbacks, transcendence, and dramatic storytelling.
V. Professional Value: Setting a New Benchmark for Multi‑Scene Visuals
The successful presentation at the Shanghai Light Art Festival established three new industry benchmarks:
- Technology serves content — one hardware set delivers diverse visual expressions through deep programming.
- Programmability unlocks infinity — a leap from independent control to collective intelligence.
- Quality ensures reliability — dual safety systems guarantee absolute operational security.
From the glittering night by the Huangpu River,
Lifting Milky Spheres, Lifting Tube Lights, and Mechanical Wings will journey to wider stages.
Every lift carries a new story of light;
every wingspread reaffirms Fengyi’s professional dedication after over a decade in the lighting industry.
The most powerful visual is not just light you see,
but life, breath, and power you feel.
