At 19:30 on the first day of the 2026 Lunar New Year,
Love of the Yangtze River – 2026 Hubei TV Spring Festival Gala premiered live on Hubei TV and all major online platforms.
Centered on a stunning stage design of sundial and lighthouse,
the gala gathered powerful artists including Lei Jia, Hailai Amu, Li Yunxiao, and Zhang Qi.
It blended traditional New Year vibes with futuristic technology,
featuring CNC lifting, floating lights, bionic butterfly dancers, and robot dogs in horse costumes for New Year greetings.
Behind this fusion of Jingchu culture and modern trends,
Fengyi Stage built a deeply programmable dynamic lighting system centered on 130 lifting spheres,
turning Yangtze River sentiment, chivalry, and contemporary spirit into a tangible, rhythmic immersive visual experience.
I. Design Concept: Deconstructing the Stage into “Floating Light Pixels”
The theme of Love of the Yangtze River expresses
the thousand-year flow of the Yangtze River,
the profound heritage of Chu culture,
and the surging momentum of the times.
Fengyi’s solution:
deconstruct lighting into freely movable 3D light pixels.
130 lifting spheres are no longer separate fixtures,
but 130 precisely programmable spatial pixel units floating above the stage.
With carefully calculated diameters of 20–35 cm
and high-transmittance frosted PC shells,
each sphere glows like a translucent star —
solid yet naturally integrated into the background.
130 units form a high-density light matrix above the 40m × 20m stage,
creating a spectacular “cloud of light”.
Each sphere can be controlled independently and precisely,
supporting everything from large-scale wave movements to delicate single-point breathing effects.
II. Core Technology: Pixel‑Precise “Collective Intelligence”
The professional soul of the 130‑sphere matrix
lies in its deeply integrated control system and pixel‑level programmability.
Each lifting sphere is equipped with a micro servo motor and closed-loop encoder,
achieving ±1 mm positioning accuracy.
Lifting travel is fully customizable,
from low above the stage to high “star clouds” over the audience,
with smooth, silent, precise motion.
Inside, an RGBW 4‑in‑1 LED supports stepless color temperature adjustment from 2200K warm amber to 10000K cool white, with CRI ≥ 90.
Optical design ensures even, soft diffusion without harsh hotspots.
Powered by the grandMA3 control platform and Art‑Net protocol,
all 130 units are mapped into a 2D pixel grid
with over 600 control parameters and end‑to‑end latency under 8 ms.
Fengyi developed an exclusive Spatial Particle Effect Engine for the gala,
turning complex group movements into parameterized visual grammar.
By adjusting amplitude, frequency, phase, decay, and direction,
it generates infinite dynamics: waves, spirals, random Brownian motion, and complex geometric patterns.
III. Scene Performance: Custom Light Narratives Across Five Chapters
Across the five chapters of Love of the Yangtze River,
130 lifting spheres delivered distinct visual expressions for each theme:
Opening: Heya!
As Lei Jia performed the original Year of the Horse dance Heya!,
the spheres ran the Joyful Particles program:
quick bouncing movements at 0.3‑second intervals,
colors shifting from warm yellow to Chinese red,
simulating the festive rhythm of galloping horses.
Heroic Gorge
For the magnificent Three Gorges scene,
the system switched to Gorge River Flow mode.
130 spheres were divided into vertical groups,
rising and falling sequentially in blue‑white gradients,
simulating surging river water.
Sine‑wave algorithm achieved perfect sync with the Yangtze River sound effects.
Huangmei Opera: Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers
During the plum-blossom award-winning Huangmei opera performance,
the system entered Ink Wash Artistic Conception mode.
Spheres moved extremely slowly at 0.1 m/s,
breathing asynchronously like gently falling petals.
Colors stayed in soft gradients of pink, white, and light purple at 40% saturation,
creating an elegant, restrained oriental aesthetic.
Mulan: New Uniform
For the story of Hua Mulan,
spheres split into Gentle and Strong groups:
slow, soft waves and sharp, high-frequency bounces,
portraying the heroine’s duality of grace and courage.
Finale Chorus: Love of the Yangtze River
As all cast sang the theme song,
spheres executed the Galaxy Forever Shining program:
rising smoothly to peak height in a carefully calculated acceleration curve,
forming a brilliant “galaxy of light”.
Colors spread evenly from warm gold at the center to icy blue at the edges.
