The Wind from the South Mountain

The sound, dance and poetry drama The Wind Rises over South Mountain takes the millennia-old cultural vein of Lingnan as its soul. Its stage design achieves an innovative integration of classical artistic conception and modern theater aesthetics through cutting-edge "programmable dynamic visuals."

Centered on the core imagery of a "landscape painting scroll," the overall design builds a freely transformable three-dimensional stage space via a numerical control lifting system and multi-dimensional lighting. Mountain silhouettes rise and fall; pavilion outlines hover and float, turning static poetic imagery into vivid visual narratives.

At its heart lies a highly customized intelligent program system. Lighting effects evolve in real time with the "introduction, development, transition and conclusion" of each act: when depicting seclusion, they become flowing morning mist and moonbeams over mountains; when expressing patriotic sentiments, they shift into cascading majestic light waterfalls and deep, warm hues. Every performance is a brand-new light and shadow creation based on the same technical framework, enabling traditional culture to radiate immediate and profound emotional power on the contemporary stage.
